Have you ever heard of a limerick poem? Limericks are short, rhyming poems that are usually funny. Here are some of the requirements for limerick poem:
5 lines
Rhyming scheme: AABBA
(This means the 1st, 2nd, and 5th lines rhyme, while the 3rd and 4th lines rhyme with each other.)
Rhythm
Try to be fun and entertaining!
Below is an example of a limerick that I’ve written.
There once was a man from Peru Who owned a little kazoo. He played it out loud, And drew a large crowd, And soon his face was quite blue.
You can see how the 1st, 2nd, and 5th lines rhyme with the words Peru, kazoo, and blue. The 3rd and 4th lines also rhyme with the words loud and crowd.
Now, I encourage you to write your own limericks and have some fun with these poems. See what you can do, and as always, have a great day!
